“So, dear jurors, the ice has broken,” Ostap-Suleiman-Berta-Maria Bender might have said in this situation. The first defendant in the case of substituting drugs for cancer patients with “placebos” at the Sante clinic Pavel Khramov received a real term and was sent to a general regime penal colony. It seems that justice has begun to prevail, but the length of the sentence is disconcerting - a year and three months.
Is parole just around the corner?
Let us recall that, according to the prosecution, Khramov, as the commercial director of the medical organization “Sante”, ordered that data on the use of drugs that were not actually used be entered into the documents of cancer patients. Thus, he and his colleagues allegedly unreasonably received 25.5 million rubles in compensation from the budget in 2020-2023.
According to the law, Khramov will be credited for his time in pretrial detention and arrest, so in fact the commercial director of the clinic will serve less than a year. And then parole may appear on the horizon, again for good behavior. All this fell to the somnologist as a bonus, not for his pretty eyes, of course. Back in July, Pavel Khramov fully admitted his guilt and actively cooperated with the investigation. What this means in this particular case is difficult to say.
According to some Telegram channels, the investigation has been and is simply exerting atmospheric pressure on all other defendants in the case. It’s good that they aren’t beating them with rubber truncheons. There is information online that allegedly the now former prosecutor Alexander Semenov personally “tortured” them in his office Sophia Mazeiny, demanding from her a voluntary confession of all sins, otherwise “the mother of two children will sit.”

Sorry, but the mother of two children - Sofia Mazeina had already been under investigation, twice, and in both cases for embezzlement of public funds. Therefore, one should not imagine her as a student from Smolny who fell into the bloody clutches of the Red Commissars. In June 2023, the former head physician of the oncology dispensary was sentenced to two years in prison for embezzlement. And precisely because Mazeina had young children on her hands, her punishment was deferred for nine years - until the youngest child turns 14. According to the criminal code, such a deferment can be assigned if the convicted person is the only parent in the family, which is what Sofya Mazeina is.
Let us recall that Mazeina and her deputy Oksana Lazareva were found guilty of paying increased bonuses to a subordinate who spent part of the money on the “wants” of his superiors, and gave them another part in cash - in fact, on the same “wants”. Thus, 1.6 million rubles flowed from the hospital treasury into the pockets of a single mother and her deputy, according to the official version of the investigation. The convicted persons also took 300 thousand rubles from the medical institution’s cash register by forging documents.
And for Sofya Mazeina, who headed the Tomsk oncology dispensary from July 2018 to February 2020, this was already the second conviction under the embezzlement article. In 2019, the Shegarsky District Court fined her 250 thousand rubles, finding that as the head physician of a local hospital, she paid herself more than half a million rubles in incentive payments for the work of a part-time statistician, which she did not perform fully.

The main defendant in the case remains the daughter of a United Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism) State Duma deputy Tatyana Solomatina - Ekaterina Felzingerwho lost consciousness right in the Investigative Committee this summer. The video of Felzinger being taken away by an ambulance was published in the country’s Telegram channels. In her Telegram channel, Tatyana Solomatina wrote an appeal to “the structures that guard the interests of the state and the people.”
Fortunately, everything worked out and nothing irreversible happened. Probably, no one put pressure on Khramov, if they didn’t call an ambulance for his interrogations, and Khramov’s parents or other relatives didn’t write protest posts on the Telegram channel for the whole country to see. And, by the way, yes – Pavel Khramov is not a mother of two children with a criminal history in the past. We are waiting for the trial of the main defendants in the case – Ekaterina Felzinger and Sofia Mazeina.
