Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow following the director Evgenia Berkovich straightened out screenwriter Svetlana Petriychuk in a pre-trial detention center in the case of justifying terrorism because of the play Finist Yasny Sokol. This is reported by the correspondent of “Mediazona”.

Petriychuk and Berkovich were detained on May 4 in Moscow and taken away for interrogation, they soon received the status of defendants. Today, lawyers said that the case on justifying terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) was initiated on April 10 because of the performance, and Roman Silantiev, who calls himself the creator of “destructology”, conducted an examination on it.

The play “Finist Yasny Sokol” tells about women from Russia who decided to marry Islamists and go to them in Syria. Last year, Finist Yasny Sokol won two nominations for the Golden Mask awards – for the work of a playwright and for the best costumes.

Lawyer Yulia Kuznetsova said in court that neither of the two witnesses in the case confirmed Petriychuk’s guilt. At the meeting, lawyer Sergei Badamshin noted that the reading of the play “Finist Yasny Sokol” in 2019 took place in the Tomsk educational colony No. 2 in order to show how “propaganda of terrorism and extremism” penetrates “the youth environment”. The judge attached a screenshot from the website of the Federal Penitentiary Service to the case.

The day before, in Moscow they also interrogated the director of the theater “Daughters of SOSO” Alexander Andrievich, where the play “Finist Yasny Sokol” was played. He said that he was in the status of a witness and called what was happening “absolute Kharms” and “catastrophe.” In St. Petersburg, the homes of Elena Efros and Nina Katerli, Berkovich’s mother and grandmother, were searched.
